Mawlynnong

The Mawlynnong is a picturesque village and earned the distinction of being the one of the cleanest villages in India. Discover India magazine declared this village as the cleanest in Asia in 2003.the village also offers many interesting sights such as the living root bridge and another strange natural phenomenon of a boulder balancing on another rock. Mawlynnong is particularly an artist’s delight and the sort of gateway that would inspire writers, painters and poets.


Mawphlang sacred forest

The Mawphlang is one of the most remarkable features of the khasi hills is the sacred forests, which have been preserved by traditional religious sanction since the ancient days. The sacred grove has an amazing wealth of plants, flowering trees, orchids and butterflies making it a great attraction for nature lovers.


Nartiang

The ancient seat of the Jaintia kings Nartiang is situated 65 km away from Shillong. And still have a number of the famous Jaintia stone memorials which have survived the passage of time. It was the summer headquarters of the Jaintia kings who brought their Hindu Brahmins with them and whose progeny are still there. There are cluster of monoliths in Nartiang that are among the tallest anywhere in the world.
